Abstract
A two-dimensional cellular automata is used to derive two novel planar fractal-tree arrays. The maximum Euclidean size, element count and the radiation pattern functions of a fractal stage are expressed in terms of easily computable recurrence relations. Computed results show that these have a better sidelobe performance for a low thinning factor and element count than some other fractal and algorithmically optimised non-fractal arrays
