Abstract
Because one can operate organic quenched counters near atmosoheric pressure, they can be built with large area (250 cm2), thin (7 mg/cm2) windows to monitor large areas of low energy à activity. To avoid the problem of short life (~ 108 counts) they are only biassed during a shortened monitoring period and are shielded against background radiation.
