Abstract :
An emulator based on three-dimensional (3-D) numerical techniques was developed to simulate the performance of walk-through metal detectors with AC field excitation. The indirect boundary integral equation method was found to be most appropriate to analyze the 3-D AC magnetic field, including moving conductors. In this paper, the developed tool was applied to various conditions, and the result showed sufficient possibility to be successfully applied to the design of various types of metal detectors.
