  • Abstract
A novel sensor, very simple and inexpensive to manufacture, and with adjustable sensitivity, was developed for the monitoring of articular movements and lung ventilation. This sensor makes use of the change in permeability with respect to mechanical stress or strain. If an amorphous ribbon is glued on a plastic ribbon which shows considerably higher thickness, bending this compound sensor will cause plain tensile stress or compression in the amorphous magnetostrictive material. In the same way, using a prebent plastic ribbon yields an effective sensor for elongation in the connecting line of the sandwich ends
