Abstract
A previously published model (D. Fletcher et al., 1991) of the behavior of filamentary conducting elements of rectangular and circular geometry in a single boundary eddy-current separator is experimentally investigated and found satisfactory in most cases. The model is extended to cover all elements of these geometries from the filamentary to the solid, and the generalized theory is compared with experiment and is found to provide reasonably reliable predictions of element behavior for all but the most penetrating elements. An explanation is given for consistent deviations from the theory
