Abstract
In this paper, we present a performance analysis for a recently proposed multiple-access multicarrier M-ary frequency-shift-keying (MC-MFSK) system over Rician fading channels. The MC-MFSK is a new multiple-access technique with the desirable properties of frequency diversity and near-far resistance, in which the signal tones are transmitted over multiple subcarriers using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In order to compute the system error probability performance, we derive the probability density function for the receiver detector output, which is the envelope of the sum of multiple Rician signals and Gaussian noise. We also conduct simulations to validate the theory and provide physical explanations of the effects of various system parameters such as the number of subcarriers or the frequency diversity order on the capacity performance of the MC-MFSK system.
