Rubber stamped with quality

Mark Moore describes a quality improvement project in a batch rubber mixing workshop. The project was completed before he took up his current post in the Avon Rubber/Bristol University Teaching Company Scheme. The project involved establishing processing tolerances and communicating them to production personnel, followed by the implementation of a reporting system for out of tolerance incidents. Responses to the data provided by the system produced an improvement in quality performance.
