Abstract
A method is discussed for making highly directional measurements of Compton current density in a radiation environment without the necessity for collimation of source current. The theoretical basis for the sensor is presented and practical design considerations are noted. In addition, experimental results obtained employing the AURORA Flash X-ray Facility as a radiation source and measuring the resulting Compton current density in air over a range of the order of 10´s to 100´s A/m2 using a prototype model of the described sensor are presented.
