Abstract
The line broadening of optical signals by semiconductor laser amplifiers with nonzero facet reflectivity was observed. The line broadening was found to be on the order of 10% for an uncoated 25.5-dB Fabry-Perot amplifier with an input signal linewidth of 9.9 MHz. The line broadening is particularly important in weakly coherent systems
