Discussion on "Piecework or daywork?"

THE President remarked that, as expected, Mr. Brown had given the meeting a most exhilarating start, in the way he had presented his Paper. Mr. F. B. McPherson (Managing Director, The Glacier Metal Company), would assist in answering any questions arising in the discussion. The opening speaker was Mk*. R. G. Hooker (Deputy Managing Director, K. & L. Steelfounders Ltd.) who said that Mr. Brown was to be congratulated on his excellent Paper, both for its subject matter and for his manner of presentation. He was also to be congratulated on his courage in presenting a Paper of such a highly controversial nature to what was probably the most hard-headed, down-to-earth" group of engineers one was likely to find in this country.
