Computer-aided drawing and design

This Paper outlines the approach to the subject in the drawing offices of Ferranti Limited at Crewe Toll. It covers the developments which have already taken place and those which are likely within the next few years. It concentrates on the design and drawing work involved in the case of fairly complicated assemblies of relatively simple machined parts. This is, of course, typical of much of the work in the engineering industry in general. It should be noted that developments are occurring very rapidly in this field. Hence, the picture may change significantly in a few years.
