Abstract
For a combined phase and amplitude demodulation process, with an integrated Brownian phase and a log normal amplitude, the error performance of the optimal demodulator is studied by Monte Carlo methods. We found that in certain cases more amplitude variance can produce better phase tracking. Further, in these cases, the observations contain more information about the phase.
