Abstract :
A new polarisation independent semiconductor laser amplifier is presented. By using a regular semiconductor amplifier in a double pass configuration, polarisation independent gain is achieved. Experiments demonstrate a reduction in the gain difference between TE and TM waves from 4 dB to 0.2 dB
