Abstract :
Wavelength fluctuations in a modulated DFB laser are transformed into intensity fluctuations using a Fabry-Perot interferometer as a wavelength discriminator. Using this method the authors have measured chirp in several DFB lasers. The results show a high correlation between chirp and regenerator sensitivity degradation when transmitting through dispersive spans
