Abstract
For ammoniacal solutions at room temperature, and in the order of symbol of ion, concentration range of the ion (in units of 10-6M) and specific rate (in units of 1011 M-l.s-1), the specific rates of eam- with rare-earth ions measured by nanosecond pulse radiolysis are: Pr3+, 40-55, 3.1; Nd3+, 28-38, 2.7; Sm3+ , 40-60, 3.8; Dy3+ , 95-300, 2.7; Ho3+ , 50-300; 1.8; and Er3+ , 50-290, 1.5. In the presence of methanol or water, the specific rates of the above given reactions are markedly decreased.
