  • Abstract
Results of an extensive evaluation and recommendations are presented for the application of air-break switches equipped with fast interrupting mechanical devices for line dropping on a 115 kV system. A computer study as well as field tests indicated that parallel lines have negligible effect on charging current. However, the current is affected significantly by conductor configurations. It was also found that high tip speed and minimum bounce of quick-break devices significantly increase the charging current interruption capability
