Abstract
We demonstrate stable and reversible precessional switching of the magnetization in microscopic spin valve cells. Magnetization reversal is achieved by applying sub-ns-hard axis magnetic field pulses under compensation of the easy axis offset field. Multiple application of a given hard axis field pulse leads to a stable and reversible switching back and forth of the cell´s magnetization. Applications of this precessional switching process in ultra fast low power magnetic random access memories can be foreseen.
