Abstract
At the close of the commissioning tests of the Lucciana station in 1987, the first multiterminal DC link started commercial operation. This station has been intended to supply part of the Corsican Island´s need for energy and consists of power-system tapping of the DC link connecting Sardinia to Italy. The major problems raised by the implementation of a multiterminal system in general, and more particularly by a three-terminal link, are presented. The use of analog and digital simulations as the basis for the main technical decisions is described. Finally, the results of commissioning tests demonstrating the validity of the implemented principles are presented
