Abstract :
A pancake wound coil of BSCCO/Ag was built and characterized in background fields up to 17.5 T. Hysteresis in J/sub c/(H), voltage-current characteristics well beyond J/sub c/, and quench properties were investigated. The coil was developed as a shim coil for a high field superconducting solenoid operating at 4.2 K.<>
