Fiftieth Anniversary of TDEI [Editorial]

In March 2015, the IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation celebrated its 50th birthday. For this special occasion, this editorial provides a look back in history. The founding Editor-in-Chief (EiC), John Lenkey, III oversaw two issues of the then called IEEE Transactions of Electrical Insulation (TEI) in 1965; the first issue published in March with 4 papers and the second issue produced in November with 3 papers. The TEI had a total count of 48 pages in 1965. The Transactions did not produce any issues in 1966. John edited the content of the April 1967 issue and gave it to the newly appointed EiC Charles (Charlie) L. Petze.
