Abstract :
In summary, the authors believe that the natural limitations of AURORA as an SREMP simulator can be overcome by the use of a supplementary pulsed field source--a transmission line simulator. Distortion due to conductive line-loading can be minimized by lowering the line impedance and sectoring the line into a high impedance ionizing sector and a low-impedance, non-ionizing sector. Gases other than air may prove useful in the ionizing ("working volume") sector. Gas properties to be exploited are: high atomic number, low attachment rate, and non-linear conduction.
