Abstract :
Equivalent loading provides a method of temperature testing induction machinery without supplying rated electrical power, or a shaft load. The application of two voltages of different frequencies to the stator winding causes heating due to alternating motor - generator operation. Tests show equivalent loading predicts slightly higher temperatures than conventional shaft loading.
