  • Abstract
    Three-phase enclosure-type gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) that has been applied at voltages below 204 kV for reliable power transmission to congested areas in big cities is now being used at 300 kV. A description is given of the key technologies in this development, namely, a 300 kV one-break circuit breaker, reliable confinement of three-phase components within a limited-size transportable enclosure, and a GIS arrangement that minimizes onsite work under restricted conditions
