Abstract
A sensor having an output signal indicative of the time rate of change (ROC) of torque is described. Operating on the same magnetoelastic principles as polarized band torque transducers except for the replacement of field intensity sensors with flux linking multiturn coils, ROC sensors respond exclusively to the variational components of the torque. ROC sensors provide unmatched sensitivity to small and rapid torque variations exposing detail often lost in the noise and bandwidth limitations of more complex and more costly torque transducers
