Abstract :
A relative-potential-based magnetostatic-field analysis approach using the finite-element method is developed. The superiority of the method is shown for field analysis of magnetic shielding with thin walls and for a magnetic body with narrow air gaps. Calculations for the magnetic-shield problem obtained using the new method give good agreement with experiments
