Abstract :
Power and energy . . . as significant an issue as any today. And, to think, that´s what our Society and this publication literally represent. Perfect power for energy efficiency is certainly a critical aspect of that issue, and it is precisely for that reason that the subject was chosen by the P&E Editorial Board to be the theme of a 2008 issue. Fortuitously, PES Publications VP Mohammad Shahidehpour agreed to assume the guest editor role for the issue, and the results of his labors will be apparent to all when you read the five feature articles of the issue. Although this issue is U.S. centric, the problems discussed and solutions offered in the feature articles and some columns have global relevance.
