  • Abstract
    The recommendation/requirements of the Suggested State Regulations are not out of line with those of the NCRP, IEC, or the proposed Canadian regulation. The 1982 Edition of the Suggested State Regulations, which reflect the philosophy of the NCRP, has the most stringent requirements for leakage radiation, both to the patient area and outside the patient area. The Canadian standard has the most stringent requirements for leakage radiation through the beam limiting devices. The IEC voluntary standard is less stringent than both the 1982 Edition of the Suggested State Regulations and the proposed Canadian regulation but is more stringent that the NCRP for leakage through the beam limiting devices. The NCRP has the least stringent requirement for leakage radiation through beam limiting devices, and at the present time does not address neutron leakage for accelerators.
