Abstract
A description is given of a wideband bipolar linear integrated circuit (IC) video amplifier system intended for high-resolution video monitor applications. In addition to a high-frequency video amplifier, the IC also contains a DC-operated contrast control and a gated differential input clamp comparator for brightness control. The IC is designed to operate from a +12-V supply and will not function properly if any of the input or output pins are biased at voltages greater than the IC supply voltage or less than the ground return pins. The common-mode operating range of the clamp comparator is from ground up to approximately 8 V. The maximum differential input voltage is from ground up to the IC supply voltage. Design considerations, circuit layout, and performance characteristics are reported.
