Waveguide bandpass filters using evanescent modes

Bandpass filters using transmission lines with a positive imaginary characteristic impedance, terminated in a capacitive reactance, are described. Physical realisation takes the form of waveguide beyond cutoff (H01 mode) and, typically, a capacitive tuning screw. The screw is the only obstacle required in the guide.
