Abstract :
Using a simple mathematical model, the theory of Cerenkov radiation of a beam--plasma system into a dielectric is discussed. The complete system can be divided into two sub-systems---the dielectric-loaded waveguide and the beam-plasma system---which mutually couple according to the laws of the mode-coupling theory.
