Abstract :
A general solution to equations describing the reliability of totally and partially triplicated computer systems indicates that total triplication is superior to partial triplication for machine-failure probabilities of less than 0.25. The optimum degree of triplication and reliability improvement is determined for all values of the machine-failure probability.
