    For maximum rate of change of signal on the axis, the optimum field distribution across the aperture of the feed of a long-focal-length paraboloid is {J2(Kr)/Kr}cos ¿ where K = 2¿A/¿F, A = paraboloid radius and F = paraboloid focal length.
