This special issue on Technology for Integrated-Circuit Design serves to emphasize the growing interest of this JOURNAL in the process technology that inexorably determines the practical capabilities and limitations of integrated circuits. In their Preface, our Guest Editor, Clarence Thornton, and Assistant Guest Editor, George Schnable, provide a most interesting perspective of the impact of technology on integrated-circuit design.
