Abstract :
Some important considerations in the interface between a power system and remote terminal unit (RTU) are described. How the SCADA-RTU interfaces to control station equipment through interposing relays and to measuring circuits through transducers, meters, and other devices is explained. Distributed RTUs and intelligent electronic devices are discussed, and analog input interfaces are detailed. The use of digital input interfaces to monitor the state of power equipment is examined. Control output interfaces and a local user interface are discussed.<>
