Abstract
A recent suggestion, that the Rayleigh hypothesis for electromagnetic scattering is exact, is shown, by counterexample, to be questionable. A point-matching solution for the surface current density (not the scattered field) is shown to be rigorously based. The solution is similar to that for the scattered field derived from the Rayleigh hypothesis.
