Abstract :
A technique for the construction of perfect reconstruction filter banks with division into non-uniform channels has been introduced. This construction uses the commutativity of subsampling and upsampling. Explicit conditions for commutativity have been presented only for the 1-D and 2-D cases. The author generalises the conditions for commutativity of subsampling and upsampling to arbitrary dimensions.
