  • Abstract
    The input impedance of a dipole placed on top of an Electromagnetic Band Gap structure, namely a woodpile structure, is studied. The impact of the material properties and of the woodpile parameters is analyzed for different positions and orientations. “Parallel” configurations are found to have a very low input impedance, whereas “perpendicular” ones have a higher impedance at resonance. This behavior has been found to be determined by the reflection phase of the woodpile for the different polarizations.
