Title :
Competition, cooperation, and change
Author :
Liebhaber, Richard T.
Abstract :
It is argued that the enormous changes of the past decade, while historic and significant in their own right, will be dwarfed by the degree of change unfolding in the 1990s. The forces driving this revolution are technology, customer demand, and marketplace competition or liberalization. Together, these forces have altered the shape and scope of the global telecommunications industry, posing new challenges and creating opportunities for public network carriers. This dynamic environment is forcing both cooperation and competition among carriers as they seek to serve customers in newly opened markets around the world.<>
