Abstract :
The authors discuss an algorithm for constructing an s2×s2 superstate matrix from the s-state trellis diagram and an s×s reduced superstate matrix directly from the s2×s2 superstate matrix for trellis codes possessing symmetry properties. The algorithm can also be applied to an MTCM scheme, and is especially convenient for trellis codes with a large number of states and or parallel transitions
