Abstract
A large scale integrated speech synthesizer is described. It is based on linear predictive coding which is a voice compression technique. The speech synthesizer is suitable for a wide range of applications, particularly in the telecommunications field. The circuit has been designed and fabricated in standard NMOS silicon-gate enhancement-depletion technology. The multidrain MOS (MDMOS) technique used permits a symbolic layout which makes the chip design remarkably simple.
