  • Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss the benefits as well as the necessary changes linked to this substation automation communication technology. More specifically, this paper addresses the evolutions to be done during system engineering in order to properly use the capabilities of the IEC 61850 toolbox. As per any tool there is a need to know how to properly use it and to fully understand its limits
