Abstract
The issue of counting the number of elements in fuzzy set is discussed. The issue of counting the number of equivalence classes in a fuzzy subset is investigated. The more general problem of counting how many similarity classes are present in a fuzzy subset is then examined. This becomes a very complex problem because of the lack of distinct boundaries in the similarity classes
