Abstract
As the 1990s are entered, there is severe competition for the lower frequency regions of the electromagnetic spectrum with little, if any, spare capacity below 22 GHz. There is therefore pressure to move to ever higher frequencies. The Radiocommunications Division of the UK Department of Trade and Industry is leading Europe in an attempt to open use of the millimetric part of the spectrum for commercial use. The author discusses apparatus for use in millimetric communications
