Abstract
The design, mode of operation and limitations of static-subsynchronous-resonance (SSR) suppression filters are described. The effectiveness of these filters is evaluated by both eigenvalue analyses using linearised mathematical models and transient simulations. Useful additional insight into their mode of operation is obtained from the fast Fourier transform (FFT) of the transient response results
