Abstract :
Interest in the use of the series transductor for fault limiting in power systems has been renewed by the concept of employing a superconciucting DC winding. This has removed the earlier disadvantage of excessive size, losses and cost, while retaining the inherent robustness of basic construction. A mathematical model of such a transductor has been developed, and various computer runs of the model are given to illustrate the fundamental principles of operation of the device in various fault-limiting modes
