Abstract :
Operation on 20 kc spacing during special tests has been successful. Also, beginning early in 1949, extensive field operation of several thousand narrow band unite on a 40 kc spacing has indicated t h a t narrow band equipment itself presents no problems of performance, maintenance or interchangeability with wide band. However, operation of narrow band systems on a 40 kc spacing does not necessarily indicate the results of operating for extended periods on 20 kc spacing.
