Abstract
The logarithmic number system (LNS), which offers a wide dynamic range with an independently choosable signal-to-noise ratio, is discussed. To realize addition, voluminous lookup tables are needed. A method is proposed to reduce the storage requirements of these tables by means of Chebyshev approximation with unequally spaced partition points
