Improvements in multispeed reluctance motors

New forms of segmented-rotors for multispeed reluctance motors are described. The magnetic circuits of the rotors allow both the segments and the channels (in the segments) to be of differing spans with differing angular spacings. The performance of the new designs is greatly superior to that of the earlier symmetrical designs, particularly for operation with stator pole numbers which are a multiple of three.
