Abstract
Commercial AM broadcast transmitters are often required to maintain a directional pattern with no more than a specified level of radiation over a "protected arc". Reradiation from a nearby high voltage power line into the protected arc can give rise to excessive field strengths. When a power line is proposed for construction near an existing broadcast array, an "initial assessment" must be made of the level of possible reradiation at an early stage, while there is the opportunity for intervention.
