Abstract :
This article deals with the advances in digital technology, which has provided relay designers with the tools to increase the capabilities of modern digital relays to provide more complete protection of generators. This article discusses field-ground protection and brush lift-off detection, which is recently incorporated into the multifunction digital generator relay. The scheme presented in this article addresses field-ground detection on generators with brushes and an external source of DC field current and voltage.
